Pilot Projects Program
Grants up to $50,000
The Southern California Environmental Health Sciences Center (SCEHSC) is pleased to announce this funding opportunity supporting one-year research projects that aim to promote the understanding, prevention, and/or mitigation of the health impacts due to environmental exposures. This RFA is intended to support a new partnership between the University of Southern California (USC) and University of California, Irvine (UC Irvine) by promoting collaboration between investigators at both universities.
The goal of the program is to provide investigators with an opportunity to collect preliminary data and/or validate the utility of specific methods or techniques to establish the feasibility of larger-scale research projects and ultimately seek external (especially NIH) funding. Successful applications must involve collaboration between investigators at USC and UCI. Other research criteria being equal, special considerations will be given to early-stage investigators.
The SCEHSC is seeking investigator-initiated applications aim to promote the understanding, prevention, and/or mitigation of the health impacts due to environmental exposures related to environmental exposures and disparities. A focus on priority areas is encouraged but not required. Priority areas are:
Applications of AI to Environmental Health
Environment and Cancer
Development & Application of Exposomics Method
Integrated Multiomics for Environmental Health
Health Effects of Extreme Weather
Community Resilience
