SCEHSC/ShARP | Hari Iyer, ScD, MPH

  • 1845 N Soto Los Angeles, CA, 90032 (map)

Join us for March's SCEHSC & ShARP Seminar, where Dr. Hari Iyer will discuss a multilevel investigation of PFAS exposure with health outcomes in a cohort of men with prostate cancer. Early results suggest moderate correlations between tap water and serum PFAS levels, and associations of PFAS with heart-related treatment side effects.

Dr. Hari Iyer is a cancer and environmental epidemiologist and Assistant Professor at the Rutgers Cancer Institute. His research aims to clarify the role of neighborhood context and environmental exposures for prostate cancer risk and progression by identifying targets for policy and clinical intervention. He co-leads the Multilevel Tumor Registry for Oncology (METRO) cohort, supported by Prostate Cancer Research, UK, and leads the Research on the Epidemiology of Prostate Cancer and Environmental Levels (REPEL) study of PFAS and prostate cancer survivorship, supported by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. Dr. Iyer also leads geospatial analysis training initiatives in Nigeria, Rwanda, and Ghana through collaborations with the Rutgers Global Health Institute and the Harvard Zhu Center for Global Cancer Prevention. Please register below to attend the seminar in-person or on Zoom.

Please note that due date for lunch orders is noon on Friday, February 27th. After this, we will no longer accept lunch orders, but we will still take sign-ups for attendees both on Zoom and in person. Thank you!
